The end of the holiday season and the start of a new year can be tough, but at least it’s also the start of Girl Scout Cookie season. That said, this season’s kick-off comes with some bad news for certain cookie enthusiasts: two popular flavors, S’mores and Toast-Yay, will be discontinued after this year.

“We routinely reevaluate our cookie lineup to make room for new innovations,” a Girl Scouts of the USA spokesperson told Food & Wine. “Discontinuing Toast-Yay! and Girl Scout S’mores may lead to something new and delicious.”

Girl Scouts launched the S’mores, a graham sandwich cookie with chocolate and marshmallow filling, in 2017. The Toast-Yay, a toast-shaped, French toast-flavored cookie dipped in icing, joined the line-up in 2021.

While local Toast-Yay enthusiasts will be able to get their final fix this season, it appears S’mores lovers in Northern California may already be out of luck. The S’mores cookie is not listed as an available flavor this season on the Girl Scouts of Northern California website. SFGATE reached out to the local organization for confirmation but did not hear back in time for publication.

All the other usual cookie suspects will still be in rotation — Thin Mints, Caramel deLites (also known as Samoas), Peanut Butter Patties (also known as Tagalongs) and more. Nationally, Girl Scout Cookie season begins on Jan. 7 and runs through April, although local timing varies: The season doesn’t begin until Jan. 13 in Northern California. Those seeking cookies can visit a nearby cookie booth or reach out to a Girl Scout they know for a link to order cookies online.
