Alia Bhatt is among the most talented and successful actors in Bollywood today. The Raazi actor has been quarantining at her Juhu home in Mumbai with her sister Shaheen. While Shaheen shuttles between living with her sister and her parents, for Alia, this is her first home that she bought with her own money.
The 27-year-old actress bought this Juhu home back in 2017, and since has purchased two more flats in the same vicinity. One of the houses was bought in January 2019 and it reportedly cost her ₹13.11 crore. But, the one Alia Bhatt currently lives in isn’t glamorous like her lifestyle, but is definitely quirky, like her personality. In a YouTube video she uploaded, Alia spoke about how it took her two years to build her flat little by little to make it look like what it currently does.
The Juhu pad is done up like a New York-style loft apartment, with the help of interior designer Richa Bahl. The two met while Alia was filming for Shandaar. The actor was impressed with the work Richa did at the Phantom office. Architectural Digest reports that Alia didn’t give any particular brief to Richa, but the only condition she had was that her apartment shouldn’t be anything too fancy or modern. When Richa first walked into Alia’s purchased flat, it was infested with termites and rotting pipes. And now it’s got an unbelievable makeover.
The home is a four-bedroom property. Shaheen ordered most of the decor online and set it up over a period of one and a half years. The first thing that grabs one’s attention in Alia Bhatt’s home are the teal blue double doors. There is also a bench placed at the entrance which is custom-made. White is the theme for the entire house – starting with the living room, where the walls and the couch are all in pristine white. The couch, which is accessorised with quirky cushions, is placed against a shelf that displays books, plants and various other knick knacks. The concrete-tiled floors add a personality to the living room. Also shining bright in the room is a grand chandelier. One key element of her apartment is the lightbox on the wall that reads out the words “Take Me To The Moon”. Alia uses this wall as her Instagram backdrop for many-a-posts.
Alia Bhatt’s home has a modular kitchen, where she shoots her YouTube series, In My Kitchen. The white walls of the kitchen are set against mint green cabinets, and yet another trippy-tiled floor. The dining room, on the other hand, is airy and full of natural light. The table looks like it’s made of rustic wood, while the six-person seating has all different chairs. It looks like something right out of a Swiss chalet. Her dining room also features a special tea bar, as Shaheen and Alia, both are tea aficionados.
Another room is occupied to be Alia Bhatt’s in-house dressing room, where everything from trials to hair and make-up take place. While the white theme is maintained here as well, mirrored walls take centre stage in the dressing room. Multi-coloured flooring adds a lot more personality to the room.
Moving to Alia’s bedroom: Keeping in tune with the all-white theme, the centrepiece of this room is the large bed with white and gold frames. The room also has adjustable lamps so as to help the Gully Boy actor comfortably read scripts even in her bedroom. With the help of a bright blue side table and more quirky cushions, this room is even a favourite of Alia Bhatt’s three cats.
The room is further done up with family photographs and some fairy lights, which makes it all the more personalised and cosy. One of the biggest attractions in this room is the art piece of a man painted out on old books. This piece signifies Alia’s as well as her sister’s love for reading.
With quirky and rustic decor elements, Alia Bhatt’s home truly reflects an old soul who also knows how to keep up with the times and make it look chic.
