President Joe Biden reportedly cancelled his Christmas plans in Delaware and returned to the White House on the same day when VP Kamala Harris announced she will not be travelling to California. The former, accompanied by First Lady Jill Biden, was seen swiftly leaving with his motorcade late on Thursday night. While the White House has not made any statement yet, social media users came up with some theories.

Some users on X, platform formerly known as Twitter, speculated that there is a White House emergency that Biden and Harris need to attend to. “Kamala Harris just abruptly cancelled her planned trip to California and “raced to the White House,” per reporters Biden also just returned to DC, after being expected to stay in Delaware until after Christmas Is something going on?” one person tweeted.

“Biden barely looks alive. If he’s cancelling his vacation and returning to the White House…4 hours past his bedtime…something is happening…,” another one added on the Elon Musk-led platform.

Another wild theory was about Biden resigning.

“With both Biden and Kamala rushing back to the White House tonight, I think Biden will be resigning and making Kamala President. I hope I’m wrong,” an X user said.

Meanwhile, some social media users shared photos of an apparent White House press release, which said that the ‘Vice President will not travel to Los Angeles, CA and will remain in Washington, DC’.

“The Vice President will be in Washington, DC where she will receive briefings and conduct internal meetings with staff. These meetings will be closed press,” the readout said.
