Fans brave cold as Notre Dame-Indiana rivalry heats up ahead of kickoff

NOTRE DAME, Ind. (WSBT) — Tailgating on campus and all around campus has been going strong since early Friday morning, with fans looking to be a part of this historic matchup.

Hundreds of fans were out bright and early – and the cold temperatures show no sign of slowing down both Irish and Hoosier fans.

Blue, gold, and green appear to dominate most tailgate areas but cream and crimson are out in large numbers as well.

Scott Selensky, who has been a long time Notre Dame South Bend native, but his daughter goes in Indiana University, says today is a win-win.

“I thought we were done, been out here in this exact spot every home game this year and I never thought we would be here again, I knew we had a good season, but I didn’t know what it was going to look like. A lot of things fall into place, So have Notre Dame play IU it’s a great moment for the state,” said Selensky.

Max Keagle with Coachmen says this game is exciting for our area.

“It is a very unique experience and it is really a big part of our community and it is really intertwined With our area, Everybody is a part of it. So when you get to be a part of that with the community with stuff like a fun BAR-V or even just being in the big lot, This is a really exciting day and it is really cool that people are paying attention to little old South Bend,” said Keagle.
