According to Oricon News, a special box set containing all 42 volumes of the Dragon Ball manga (the original Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z stories) is also in the works. This box set will feature dual covers that include Akira Toriyama’s original covers and the special guest illustrations released for Dragon Ball’s 40th anniversary, featuring artwork by Shonen Jump legends like Yoshihiro Togashi (Yu Yu Hakusho, Hunter x Hunter), Kohei Horikoshi (My Hero Academia), Takehiko Inoue (Slam Dunk) and more. The final cover art will be illustrated by Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece. A blurred preview of Oda’s cover was revealed at the event.

Currently, there’s limited information about the new Dragon Ball Super one-shot story for February 2025. However, longtime fans have deduced that the mysterious purple superhero appears to be Clean God, a heroic figure fighting for environmentalism. Goten and Trunks were shown to be big fans of the climate change hero in the manga adaptation of the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero movie. The high school Saiyan warriors also have superhero alter-egos, Great Saiyaman X-1 and X-2, similar to Gohan’s.

Last but not least, brand-new artwork from the late Toriyama was revealed for the Shonen Jump event. The never-before-seen artwork was of Majin Kuu and Majin Duu, the new Majin brothers introduced in Dragon Ball Daima. Majin Duu was just revealed in Episode 11 (“Legend”), while Majin Kuu was introduced in Episode 9 (“Thieves”).

RelatedMajin Kuu and Majin Duu have both fought Tamagami 1, but it might take one or two more children of Buu to defeat it.

Toyotarou, the artist who worked with Toriyama on the Dragon Ball Super manga before his passing in March, continues to play a key role in the Dragon Ball franchise. He also continues to illustrate his takes on Toriyama’s memorable characters, ranging from Dragon Ball, Chrono Trigger and one-shot stories. Before the announcement, online trolls tried to fool fans with a fake Dragon Ball Super announcement, but the fandom called the ‘leak’ out before it became too widespread.

New episodes of Dragon Ball Daima air every Friday on Crunchyroll. The English dub, starring Stephanie Nadolny as Goku (Mini), will premiere on Crunchyroll in January 2025. Dragon Ball Daima is also available on Hulu and Netflix. “Goku and company were living peaceful lives when they suddenly turned small due to a conspiracy!” the series’ official description reads. “When they discover that the reason for this may lie in a world known as the ‘Demon Realm,’ a mysterious young Majin named Glorio appears before them.”

Dragon Ball tells the tale of a young warrior by the name of Son Goku, a young peculiar boy with a tail who embarks on a quest to become stronger and learns of the Dragon Balls, when, once all 7 are gathered, grant any wish of choice.

Dragon Ball is the labor of writer/illustrator Akira Toriyama, beginning with Dragon Ball back in 1984. The series originally started as a serialized manga back in Weekly Shonen Jump for nearly a decade until it expanded into the anime franchises it is most known for today. Dragon Ball was later adapted into two animes, with one being Dragon Ball Z, the most universally known series in the entire Dragon Ball canon. The franchise has continued to expand lore via films, video games, and additional sequel TV series, such as the more recent Dragon Ball Super and Super Dragon Ball Heroes. Dragon Ball centers mostly around Son Goku, a being known as a Saiyan, and his friends as they face off against intergalactic threats and seek out the titular dragon balls. When all seven of these balls are collected, they can be used to summon a legendary dragon that can grant the wishes of whoever so gathers them. The Dragon Ball franchise continues to be one of the most well-known and beloved animes of all time, with over forty different countries airing it, and has had a tremendous impact on Western culture as a whole.
