PROVIDENCE – The Providence Place mall Macy’s is not included on the list of stores that the company plans to close – at least for now.
On Thursday, the retailer published a list for 64 stores that it plans to close in the coming months, along with two that have already closed. No Rhode Island stores are on the list.
Macy’s has indicated that it plans to close about 150 underproductive stores in total by 2026, meaning that 90 other stores that haven’t been identified yet will go under.
The future of the Providence Macy’s, one of the mall’s anchor tenants, has been in question since November, when the location was listed for sale at an undisclosed price.
Macy’s also has a location in the Warwick Mall.
