Sam Pittman doesn’t miss when it comes to bowl games with the Arkansas Razorbacks. The program has won another bowl game under Pittman, who improved to 3-0 as the Razorbacks’ head coach in bowl games.
Arkansas’ communications department immediately flexed the head coach’s historical accomplishment with a post on the team’s official X account following the Razorbacks’ 39-26 win on Friday in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl in Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium in Memphis over the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
“The first head coach in @RazorbackFB history to win each of his first three bowl games: Sam Pittman,” the post read.
Arkansas promoted Pittman to be its head coach in December of 2019. Although the Razorbacks went just 3-7 and did not appear in a bowl game in 2020, they turned things around in the following season.
Pittman guided the Razorbacks to a 9-4 record in 2021 and steered them to a 24-10 victory over the Penn State Nittany Lions in the Outback Steakhouse Bowl. In the 2022 season, Pittman won his second bowl game with the Razorbacks by leading them to a thrilling 55-53 triumph against the Kansas Jayhawks in that year’s edition of the AutoZone Liberty Bowl.

Arkansas took a step back in 2023 when the Razorbacks put together just a 4-8 record, thus missing a bowl game invite.
The win versus Texas Tech was powered by the fantastic play of quarterback Taylen Green, who passed for 341 yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions. Green also added 81 rushing yards and a score on 15 carries.
Arkansas concludes its 2024 season with a 7-6 record.
