What a game!

This one was full of many highs and lows, and I can only imagine the emotional toll it took on fans – however in the end, Jayden Daniels pulled off another one of his signatures drives down the field for the game winning touchdown. Yeah, he is HIM!

Washington now sits at 10-5 on the season and controls their own playoff destiny. If you’d have told me in the summer that this football team would be sitting at 10-5 with two games still left to play, I would have asked how much you had to drink…but, I’ll take it!

Below are my Studs and Duds of the game followed by some notes.

Studs:

Jayden Daniels – Jayden had an amazing game, throwing for 258 yards and a career high five touchdowns on 24-39 passing. He was also Washington’s leading rusher accounting for 81 yards on nine carries. The game-winning drive he engineered to give Washington the win was a thing of beauty.

Olamide Zaccheaus – Zaccheaus led all Commanders receivers with 70 yards on five catches and saw the endzone twice.

Jamison Crowder – Crowder’s two touchdowns were huge, and without his savvy route-running and solid hands, Washington would not have won this game.

Frankie Luvu – Luvu collected seven total tackles, two for a loss, one pass defended and a huge interception. He’s been the best player on this defense all season and deserves more national recognition.

Jer’Zhan Newton – Newton had an impressive game tallying six tackles, three for a loss, a sack and three pressures on the afternoon.

Luke McCaffrey – McCaffrey had a heck of a day returning kicks. he had six returns for 184 yards with a long of 47. He also caught one pass for 13 yards. Maybe, just maybe, it’s time to start getting him the ball on offense.

Duds:

Brian Robinson – BRob averaged just 2.4 yards per carry and fumbled twice in the game. It was certainly one to forget for the veteran running back. I’d like to see more of Chris Rodriguez moving forward.

Tyler Biadasz/Nick Allegretti – The interior duo had a pretty bad game against the Eagles vaunted front. Both missed multiple blocks resulting in tackles-for-a-loss and did a poor job handling the power-rush.

Notes:

• Marshon Lattimore had a rough afternoon, but not all of it was his fault. Two of the three pass interference calls that went against him were questionable. One was ticky-tac on a ball that was probably uncatchable, and the other one A.J. Brown had his hand inside of Marshon’s jersey and was pulling it down. He did give up an easy touchdown to Brown, but also had some nice passes defended – which is why he’s not on the Duds list.
• Terry had another touchdown on a beautifully thrown pass from Daniels. He had a solid statline with five receptions for 60 yards and a touchdown and probably could have made my Studs list.
• St-Juste was in towards the end of the game when Lattimore left with a tweaked hamstring, and he was immediately targeted by the weak-armed Kenny Pickett. He whiffed on a tackle that would have stopped the Eagles short on a fourth and seven.
• Dyami Brown caught a nice 51 yard deep ball but also had a costly fumble on a quick screen.
• Bobby Wagner led the team with nine tackles (eight solo) with two pressures and a nice pass defended against Barkley down the right sideline.
• Both Ferrell and Fowler had a sack (Ferrell’s was a strip-sack), and each notched a tackle for a loss and multiple pressures.
• On a cold afternoon, Tress Way did a nice job on his two punts, averaging 46 yards per kick with a long of 49.
