Booker struggled away from the basket up to that point and was 6-for-17 overall and 0-for-5 from three. Booker told the Suns’ TV broadcast the play was originally drawn up for Kevin Durant, a play he said they also ran during the Olympics.
Booker finished with 19 points (on 7-for-18 shooting), 12 assists and seven rebounds in 40 minutes. Durant led the way for Phoenix with 38 points (on 11-for-21 shooting), eight rebounds, five assists and three blocks in 37 minutes.
The shot gave the Suns (35-37) four straight wins, the team’s longest winning streak since November. Despite having the league’s toughest remaining strength of schedule, the surging Suns have moved within a game of the Sacramento Kings for ninth in the Western Conference.
