Donald Trump has yet to congratulate the Eagles on their Super Bowl win, jabs Taylor Swift instead

As Eagles fans erupted in their Super Bowl celebrations, President Donald Trump was on Truth Social writing about NFL kickoff rules, targeting Taylor Swift — and not congratulating the Birds for their exhilarating 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.

“The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift,” Trump wrote in one post shortly after 11 p.m. Sunday night. “She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!”

“The worst part of the Super Bowl, by far, was watching the Kickoff where, as the ball is sailing through the air, the entire field is frozen, stiff,” Trump wrote just one minute later, rehashing a complaint of his from Friday. “College Football does not do it, and won’t! Whose idea was it to ruin the Game?”

Trump attended the game in-person at the Superdome in New Orleans where the Birds dominated the Chiefs, knocking off their Super Bowl dynasty and ending its chance at a three-peat. But it appears that the president — who has been sparse in his praise for the Eagles — didn’t get to see the win in person, leaving early as outlined in his daily schedule, per pool reports. Trump sat for his game-day interview with Fox News’ Brett Baier prior to the game.

And on Monday morning, Trump’s acclaim for the team has still yet to be found. He took to Truth Social to write about military academies, his appointment for the United States’ ambassador to Finland, and an article from the New York Sun about his second administration.

It’s unclear whether Trump privately congratulated the team — spokespeople for the Eagles and the White House did not immediately comment Monday — but Trump has some history with the Birds (and Swift).

When the Eagles defeated the New England Patriots 41-33 in February 2018, Trump rescinded the team’s invitation to visit White House after many players signaled they would not attend and as Trump expressed displeasure with athletes who went to the locker room or kneeled during the national anthem — despite no Eagle having done so that season.

Fast forward to 2025, Trump snubbed the Birds after their NFC Championship victory, congratulating the Chiefs’ on their AFC win instead. It wasn’t until this past Friday that Trump acknowledge “Two great quarterbacks in this game” — Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes — and both teams’ star players and coaching.

As for Swift, the Berks County native and superstar singer-songwriter who is in a relationship with Chiefs tight-end Travis Kelce, has been a vocal advocate against Trump, who posted a fake, AI-generated endorsement from the popstar in August 2024. She endorsed former Vice President Kamala Harris in 2024 and former President Joe Biden in 2020. And much of her 2020 documentary, “Miss Americana” was about Swift finding her political voice and publicly opposing Trump-aligned candidates.
