The Hosts of College Gameday during their show early morning before the NCAA college football game between Texas Longhorns Oklahoma Sooners at the Cotton Bowl on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023 in Dallas, Texas. This game makes up the119th rivalry match up.
The journey continues. After whitewashing Tennessee and Oregon, the Ohio State football team is just one win away from playing for a College Football Playoff national championship. To get there though, the Buckeyes have to continue their forward momentum and find a way to beat the Texas Longhorns in their own backyard in Dallas at a CFP semifinal in the Cotton Bowl.
The game is being televised by ESPN, and it’s obviously one of the biggest games of the year so the College GameDay crew was on hand to bring their popular pregame show from Jerry’s World, and as usual, the crew of Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee, Nick Saban, and Lee Corso took turns picking the winner of the game. Herbstreit didn’t make a pick because he is calling the game.
Here is who each personality picked to win between Ohio State and Texas in the Cotton Bowl.
Desmond Howard
Desmond Howard prepares to broadcast from the field on the ESPN College Gameday set prior to the NCAA football game between the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Ohio State Buckeyes at Beaver Stadium in University Park, Pa. on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024.
The Pick
As we know, the former Michigan player and certified homer loves to hate on Ohio State, but even he had to admit that Ohio State is on a roll and favored to win this one. He went with the Buckeyes to beat the Longhorns.
Pat McAfee
Pat McAfee sits on the ESPN College Gameday set prior to the NCAA football game between the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Ohio State Buckeyes at Beaver Stadium in University Park, Pa. on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024.
The Pick
McAfee has been on the wrong side of picking Ohio State this season, often picking against the Buckeyes and being proven wrong in big games, but he wasn’t going to have it in this one. He even trolled Texas a little by doing the horns down and picking OSU.
Nick Saban

The Pick
Saban might be the most sensible of all the GameDay crew members and he knows talent when he sees it. He picked Ohio State to keep rolling and beat Texas.
Lee Corso
Lee Corso prepares to joing the ESPN College Gameday set prior to the NCAA football game between the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Ohio State Buckeyes at Beaver Stadium in University Park, Pa. on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024.
The Pick
Corso was the lone GameDay crew member that went against the grain and picked Texas to upset Ohio State. It’s a bit shocking since he’s been all in on the Buckeyes historically, but he apparently sees something nobody else does.
