Former Buffalo Bills OC fired for second time in just over one year

The Cleveland Browns needed to find a few scapegoats following their dreadful 3-14 season. On Sunday, the Browns found two firing offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey and offensive line coach Andy Dickerson.

Dorsey was hired by the Browns in February of 2024 to serve as offensive coordinator. Despite being hired as offensive coordinator in the offseason, Dorsey did not take over playcalling duties until late October. At that point in time, the Browns were just 1-6 under Stefanski’s playcalling and Deshaun Watson at quarterback.

At the end of the year, Cleveland’s offense struggled to score points. Dorsey’s offense scored 10 points or fewer in the Browns’ final four games of the season. Of course, a significant part of the Browns’ offensive struggles came down to their quarterback play. Jameis Winston lost his starting job in the first of the four games. The Browns then turned to Dorian Thompson-Robinson, a developmental quarterback, for two games before giving Bailey Zappe the start in their regular season finale. The team was also without their star running back Nick Chubb for just over half of the regular season.

Before joining the Browns, spent over four seasons with the Buffalo Bills. Dorsey was the quarterbacks coach from 2019-2020. In 2021, Dorsey was named the passing game coordinator in addition to his job as quarterbacks coach. The following season, Dorsey was named offensive coordinator after Brian Daboll was hired as head coach of the New York Giants. Dorsey would get out to a good start in Buffalo. In 2022, Dorsey’s offense finished second in scoring and yards. He lasted just 10 games in 2023, however, with the team getting out to a 5-5 start due in part to the offense struggling.
