Instant Analysis: USC football beats Texas A&M 35-31 in Las Vegas Bowl with miraculous comeback

LAS VEGAS — USC came back from a 24-7 third quarter deficit to beat Texas A&M 35-31 in the Las Vegas Bowl, and the USCFootball.com team was there to cover all of the action.

Kyle Ford caught the game-winning touchdown pass from Jayden Maiava on a seven-yard slant with eight seconds remaining Saturday night. USC had taken a 28-24 lead with 4:30 remaining on Ja’Kobi Lane’s third touchdown catch of the evening, but Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed rushed for a 19-yard score with 1:49 to play to give the Aggies the lead right back. The Trojans didn’t panic though as Maiava cooly marched USC down for the game-winning touchdown. 

Maiava threw four touchdowns but had three interceptions. Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed threw three touchdowns, rushed for a score and had two interceptions. USC ends the season 7-6 and 2-0 against the SEC on the season. 

The Trojans wrapped up a frustrating season with a win the team should be proud of. USC has an important offseason ahead, but Friday night should be celebrated. That was a gutsy win with a number of impact players out on both sides.
