Nuna Baby Essentials recalls over 608,000 RAVA car seats: See list of models impacted

If you drive with precious cargo in your vehicle, you might want to check if you have this car seat.

Nuna Baby Essentials issued a voluntary recall for 608,786 of its RAVA child seats with a plastic harness adjuster button, according to the recall report by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Debris may enter the front harness adjuster of the recalled car seats and cause the mechanism to fail, the recall report said. The report said that this can result in a loose harness.

If a child is placed in the recalled car seat, the harness may not restrain the child properly and increase the risk of a crash, the report said.

“We have initiated a voluntary recall of RAVA models manufactured between July 16, 2016, and Oct. 25, 2023, in which owners will be eligible to receive a new seat pad, cleaning kit, and care instructions to ensure the car seat’s harness adjuster is kept clean and working properly,” Nuna Baby Essentials said in its recall report.

If the car seat’s harness is functioning properly and securing the child, you can continue to use the car seat, Nuna Baby Essentials said.

Customers who have registered an affected RAVA will receive two letters from Nuna by mail. The first letter will notify them of the recall, ask them to confirm status, and provide instructions on how they can receive a new seat pad and cleaning kit, the baby brand said.

The recall will also show them how to test the car seat to ensure the harness is working properly. The second letter will notify owners when the seat pad and cleaning kit are available, Nuna Baby Essentials said.
