Atlanta-based rapper OG Maco has died, according to multiple reports.

He was 32.

In a post on his Instagram, the ” U Guessed It” rapper’s death was made official by his family, who referred to him by his real name, Benedict Ihesiba Jr.

“With heavy hearts, we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of our beloved Ben, known to the world as OG Maco,” the post reads. “His life was a testament to resilience, creativity, and boundless love. Through his music, passion, and unwavering spirit, he touched so many lives and left a lasting impact.”

“While we grieve this immense loss, we also celebrate the extraordinary life he lived — one that will continue to inspire and uplift others.”

The family’s message continued telling fans that the DMs on his account were open to expressing their condolences and connecting with the family and that their support “means more than words can express.”

The cause of his death has not yet been revealed. On Dec. 16, the family posted a brief message, letting people know the rapper was hospitalized and was in “critical but stable condition.”

“We want to inform OG Maco’s fans, friends, and supporters that he is currently in critical but stable condition,” the statement read. “He is receiving the best possible care, and we are staying hopeful as he continues to fight. At this time, we kindly ask that you respect our privacy, but if you would like to send any messages or have anything you wish to get to the family, please reach out via DM.”

In 2016, the rapper got into a bad car accident where he lost his eye, as reported by TheBoomBox, and years later, in 2019, he revealed he had a “skin-eating disease” after being incorrectly treated for a rash.

Maco grew up in Atlanta’s College Park area. In 2011, his debut mixtape, “Marty McFly,” was released.

Following that, his 2014 hit single, “U Guessed It,” became extremely popular. People used the song to create videos on former social media Vine, and the rapper remixed it with the help of fellow Atlanta rapper 2Chainz.

Maco’s family concluded their post with a heartfelt message to the rapper’s fans.

“To all Maco’s fans, friends, and supporters, thank you for standing by him throughout his journey,” the post reads. “Today, we celebrate a life that was extraordinary in every way.”
