After a really bad day against the New York Jets, things got even worse for the Miami Dolphins in a hurry thanks to Tyreek Hill.
The Dolphins (8-9) missed the postseason after losing 32-20 to the Jets (5-12) in the Week 18 season finale between the two teams.
Now Miami might lose their star receiver.
In a long post-game interview in the Dolphins’ locker room at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, Hill concluded it by saying he wants out.
“I don’t even know, bruh. This is my first time I haven’t been in the playoffs,” he said. “For me, I just have to do what’s best for me and my family — if that’s here or wherever the case may be. I’m about to open up that door for myself … I’m out, bruh. It was great playing here but at the end of the day, I have to do what’s best for my career.
Hill’s full interview can be found in the clip below:
During the games, the Jets’ stadium employees showed the scores of games around the NFL on the jumbotron. It displayed the Denver Broncos blowing out the Kansas City Chiefs which meant that Miami’s result in New York did not matter relating to playoff tiebreakers.
Sometime after that, the Dolphins coaching staff was told Hill could not go back in the game. Hill found himself on the bench. It was not clear why, but Hill had been dealing with a wrist injury for most of the season.
Then came his post-game comments…. then there was Miami head coach Mike McDaniel’s response
McDaniel indicated Hill sitting out had nothing to do with injury, suggesting he just did not want to play.
. “I was informed that he was unavailable right before a drive. I was not informed that it wasn’t a new injury,” McDaniel said per Dolphins Wire. “And I think at that point in time, my focus was on the players and I didn’t take the time to go try to figure out more.”
Adding more salt in the wound could be the Dolphins’ massive $15 million dead cap hit the team would gain by letting the 30-year-old leave during the offseason. Miami will be a talked about team throughout the offseason now.
