Fans of Jessica Alba and Cash Warren’s relationship were left shocked on January 8 when news broke that the couple, after nearly 17 years of marriage, were headed for divorce. TMZ reported the news, stating that sources with direct knowledge explaining that the couple recently separated and are now going through with a divorce.
While Warren and Alba’s separation feels sudden, the good news is that the former couple are still “friends and all about the kids” despite their split, a source told People after the divorce news broke.
The spouse’s divorce is anticipated to be an amicable one, according to the outlet’s source—”No matter what’s going on right now, it seems they will remain close,” the insider explained. And don’t expect any drama to come from the actress and film producer in the future, either. “If they’re filing for divorce, it’s not because of some hateful drama. They still look happy together,” the source added.
So, why did Alba and Warren break up? The source revealed that the couple simply lost the magic between them, with the source noting that “Jess has mentioned over the years though that it’s hard to keep the spark.”
The Honey actress recently explained that marriage can be difficult once getting out of the honeymoon phase during her April 2024 appearance on Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt’s BDA Baby podcast. “It’s all rosy for 2.5 years, but then after that, you become roommates,” she said. “And it’s just, like, you’re roommates. You’re just going through the motions. It’s the responsibility. It’s a lot of, like, checking the boxes.”
“We have, like, obviously the friendship, the comfort of, like, ‘you’re not going anywhere,’ and so sometimes you don’t treat those people the best, right? You don’t consider their feelings in the way that you would consider other people’s feelings,” Alba explained. “So that is something that I think is a constant one to work on…If you’ve figured it out in your relationship, let me know.”
The former couple met in 2004 on the set of Fantastic Four and later married in 2008. During their marriage, they welcomed three children—daughters Honor, 16, and Haven, 13, and son Hayes, 7.
