The first-ever WWE Raw episode on Netflix featured The Rock and Cody Rhodes hugging, resolving previous tensions. The Rock praised Rhodes for leading WWE for a year. Their WrestleMania 40 journey included Rhodes defeating Reigns to become Undisputed WWE Champion, despite initial challenges.
The first-ever episode of WWE Raw on Netflix just dropped, and things are heating up. From the heart-stopping matches to some unexpected moments, the night has been eventful, to say the least.
And one of the most unexpected moments came backstage when we saw The Rock and Cody Rhodes sharing a hug. After the last match between Rhodes and Roman Reigns, where the former took home the title of the Champion, things were somewhat tense to say the least. Now a hug amid all the rumble is a sight for sore eyes (or some speculation).
The Rock made an appearance, opening the debut episode of RAW on Netflix in Los Angeles. Him being there was not that much of a surprise and made fans more than happy. He thanked several people, but one of the names on his list might surprise a few. The current WWE Universal Champion, Cody Rhodes, was at the very top of his list of acknowledgements.
After Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s public feud with Cody, which even led many to believe that he would be the one to face off against the latter, this comes as a bit of a surprise. On the other hand, The Rock also announced before WrestleMania 40 that he wanted to fight against Roman Reigns and had asked Cody Rhodes to take a back seat for the finale. And who could forget that slap on the face, literally!
But now almost a year later, here we are, as The Rock thanked Rhodes for carrying WWE on his shoulders for almost a year, saying he was proud of him. And that is not all, as the two were also seen sharing a hug and drink backstage. Well… 2025 seems to be off a good start. We can only hope for some more unexpected but totally welcome moments to come our way in the future.
The WrestleMania 40 story was one for the books. After defeating one opponent after the other, Cody Rhodes made his way to the finale to face off against the then Champion of WWE – Roman Reigns. The latter is not one to be messed with, but to finish his story, Rhodes had to face off against the Tribal Chief. But then came an unexpected boulder on his way to success.
The winner of the Royal Rumble let The Rock take his place in the WrestleMania finale to face off against Reigns. But fans went absolutely feral, turned Rock heel, and forced WWE and The Rock to give the chance back to Rhodes to face off against Roman Reigns at the finale.
Cody teamed up with Seth Rollins to take on Rock and the Tribal Chief, where The Rock managed to beat Cody. But he overcame all the challenges and on Night Two of the main event, came out victorious after defeating Reigns, and becoming the Undisputed WWE Champion. And thus, finishing his story.
